HeadsUpTexas-Logo.jpeg

HeadsUP Texas! logo: A Political Action Committee working to empower the people of Texas to take charge of our social, economic, and environmental future; to elect diverse leaders who possess the integrity and depth that the gravity of our challenges demand, and to defend our democracy from the threats of voter apathy and disinformation.

PintsForPussies-Logo.jpeg

Pints for Pussies logo:
This craft beer company donated a portion of each pint of craft beer sold to support Planned Parenthood, in the wake of draconian, budget cuts. The Trump-Pence administration's policies tried to "defund" Planned Parenthood and cut off millions of patients from critical, affordable health care.

Texas Moratorium Network logo: A non-profit organization with the primary goal of mobilizing statewide support for a moratorium on executions in Texas. Significant death penalty reform in Texas, including a moratorium on executions, is a viable goal if the public is educated on the death penalty system and is encouraged to contact their elected representatives to urge passage of moratorium legislation.

Delia Garza (Democratic Party) campaign for Austin City Council: Garza was the first Latina elected to the Austin City Council. She won her seat in both the 2014 and 2016 elections. Garza went on to win the election for Travis County Attorney in Texas outright after the general election was canceled. In 2020.

Campaign graphics included: Campaign logo, signage, bumper stickers, a 2-page candidate flyer, campaign business cards, smaller campaign stickers, and a website landing page.

Chris Riley (Democratic Party) won his campaign for Austin City Council and served on the council from 2009 to 2015.

Campaign graphics included: Campaign logo, signage, and bumper stickers. They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. That was evident with San Marcos John Thomaides’ copycat campaign signage (at the bottom left).

Activist Kelly in Action

WomensMarch2016-Polly-Kelly.jpeg

At the Women’s March on Texas 2020 at Texas State Capitol in Austin, with my rabble rousing sister, Polly Monear. My sign featured furry kitty cat ears.

Women’s March 2017 (the infamous post-Trump election march) at Texas State Capitol in Austin. The Women's March was a worldwide protest on January 21, 2017, the day after the inauguration of President Donald Trump. It was prompted by the fact that several of Trump's statements were considered by many as anti-women or otherwise offensive to women. It was the largest single-day protest in U.S. history.

I created this massive paper mache TRUMP HEAD wearing a golden crown with all his nasty traits adorning the spikes. It was my boyfriend, Jason Vargo’s, first march. We made him a RESIST BIGLY! sign.

Occupy Austin at Austin City Hall. Occupy Austin was a collaboration that began on October 6, 2011 at City Hall in Austin, Texas as an occupation and peaceful protest. It is affiliated with the Occupy Wall Street movement that began in New York City and also with the “Occupy” protests in the United States and around the world. At the center of the occupation is the General Assembly, where the community comes out and tries to come to consensus on proposals for action

My sign featured a power fist with POWER TO THE PEOPLE and on the flip side, WHEN WE’RE SCREWED, WE MULTIPLY.

March on Crawford, Texas - Home of President Bush's ranch. My mother and I drove out to Crawford on the anniversary of the Iraq War, joining other Texas peace and justice groups in speaking out against the Bush Jr. (aka Shrub) administration's aggressive foreign and domestic policies. We got to see Ralph Nader speak at the event, during one of his many presidential runs.

Mom (Bea Perry) is sporting a BEHOLD THE BURNING BUSH sign while I carried the ever-faithful PEACE sign.
